Valtari is Sigur Rs's sixth studio album and the first since 2008's acclaimed Me su eyrum vi spilum en dalaust, marking the end of their indefinite hiatus. The band formed in 1994. It is either the album they always wanted to make, or the album they almost didn't make, depending on how you look at it. Some of the songs had much earlier starts and were heard live, but were never fully realised.
