This material would most accurately be named "chrysanthemum rhyolite" but you know I can't pass up a goblin-y name like spider jasper

All around the base there are fine icicle-like needles of crystals which I don't believe to be hyalite

They commonly appear as distinct circles with banding as in the case of leopardskin jasper

the availability of silica that is the basis for the quartz family

The piece is effectively three intergrown crystals in a stepped formation, with partial crystals attached at one end. The sides are beautifully striated on the partial crystals, with more
