I live near Paynes Prairie, home to thousands of gators, and see them regularly in ponds, rivers, springs, and swamps throughout Florida. I am fascinated by them and love their textural complexity. Swamps evoke mystery and timelessness, and gators are such an ancient species hearkening from the age of the dinosaurs, that I forget our civilized world while I'm in the swamp with it's other denizens.
